Giving Tuesday at Archway Lincoln

Archway Lincoln November 27, 2024 -

As we commemorate the 10th anniversary of Archway Lincoln, we also take a moment to celebrate and honor one of the true cornerstones of our school and community—Ms. Erin Stecker. Over the past decade, Ms. Stecker has embodied the values that define a classical education, transforming the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues with her unwavering commitment to fostering both the hearts and minds of our young scholars.

When Ms. Stecker first arrived at Archway Lincoln as a teacher, she came from a non-classical background in education. However, it was her first encounter with the Great Hearts classical model that sparked a profound shift in her teaching philosophy.

Reflecting on this turning point, Ms. Stecker shared, “Compared to the schools I had previously taught at, the depth of learning with the Great Hearts model was remarkable—I couldn’t believe the difference in what student could learn with classical education.  it gave me a new perspective on teaching.”

In her first year at Archway Lincoln, Ms. Stecker found herself reawakened to what had been missing in her previous years of teaching: an approach to education that was not only a pursuit of academic excellence.  “Classical education goes beyond mere academic achievement; it nurtures a genuine love for learning.  Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and develop a lifelong passion for knowledge,” explained Mrs. Stecker.  It was this philosophy that led her to invest wholeheartedly in her students and their growth, both inside and outside the classroom.

After several years of dedicated service as a teacher and then as Dean of Academics, Ms. Stecker has now taken on a new leadership role as Assistant Headmaster for Archway Lincoln. In this position, she continues to shape the direction of our school, inspiring both educators, students and families with her vision for a community where education is not merely a transaction but a transformative experience.
